The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is a government entity committed to enhancing the health and well-being of all Americans. Established in 1980, HHS provides effective health and human services and fosters advances in medicine, public health, and social services. With its operations overseen by the Office of the Secretary Staff Divisions, Operating Divisions, and Regional Offices, HHS administers more than 100 programs aimed at protecting public health and providing essential human services, particularly for those least able to help themselves.
