Texas Department of Public Safety

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is a government agency committed to protecting and serving the people of Texas through law enforcement and public services. Established in 1935, the DPS’ mission is to ensure the safety and protection of the citizens by enforcing laws, administering regulatory programs, managing records, educating the public, and managing emergencies, both directly and in cooperation with other agencies. The Department has several offices throughout Texas, including major offices in Austin, Houston, and Dallas.
